What will I find with you?
Display cases full of beautifully showcased gemstone jewelry; rings, necklaces, pendants, earrings, bracelets.
Many trays with loose gemstones.

Our specialties: only 100% natural gemstones. Recycling of silver and gold. Custom design of jewelry in our own atelier. Think of birth jewelry, engagement rings, wedding jewelry, or simply a piece of jewelry because you deserve it.

We also have beautiful gifts. Such as the super soft wraps that you'll never want to take off. In many beautiful colors, where we always look for the color that makes your eyes sparkle.

And don't forget: Cheerful inspiring postcards (organic), delightful incense, Hindu statues (also antique!), and super special tapestries: made by the nomads from Rajasthan by recycling their colorful clothes. The quality of these is fantastic and no longer available at the prices we currently sell them for.

In everything we sell, we keep an eye on ethics and footprints. Sustainability is important to us.

Who should come to you?
Anyone looking for a piece of jewelry that truly suits them. For yourself, or as a gift. An incredible variety of styles, and we can create a lot in our atelier.

Whether it's a bold piece of jewelry (no guts no glory :-P), a chic statement piece, a modest piece, a child's ring, or wearable art. From modern to romantic. In silver, gold, or both. We love it. As long as there's a stone in it.

Our passion and knowledge lie in the gemstones within the jewelry. And our strength in translating a personal story into the piece of jewelry. Anyone who hadn't yet, will certainly discover their inner magpie at LiAtelier.

And trying on without buying, that's always allowed! It's great to just hang that one 'out of budget' piece of jewelry around your neck. And perhaps you'll find that one piece of jewelry with a surprisingly low budget, calling your name through the display case glass.

What do you like most about your business?
The contact with customers, how happy they become with our jewelry, and how touched they can be when they suddenly find that perfect match. Both the jewelry and the customer then begin to shine.

What's the nicest compliment you've received?
This is why I couldn't finish my questionnaire for Lutje. Decision stress from the sheer number of compliments. Let me take that one man who came to buy a ring for his wife. After already 1.5 hours of happily looking at everything and examining it closely, he said: “Now I understand why my wife is always here for so long. It seemed like nothing to me, so I usually go to MediaMarkt when she comes here. And now I've been standing here just as long as I would among the electronics.” I'm curious which regular customer this gentleman belongs to.

I think the most common compliment is when people say: It's like stepping into another world. Oh, and that we are so helpful and kind.

What makes you 'lutje'?
Passion, dedication, only 1 shop, not part of a large chain, we do everything ourselves, together with our team. You only do that if you're secretly crazy.

And the 'Lutje' factor. Literally, this means we are small, but it's quite impressive what we do, if I may say so myself. Including the fact that we keep managing to survive this stupid Corona crisis. Because this is an expensive shop to run. Uncertain times, but LiAtelier has a strong right to exist, and we are proud of that. We truly mean something to our customers.

And the Groningen aspect of Lutje. We love this city, just as we love our shop. We have a fantastically beautiful and surprising spot at the Vismarkt. Truly a shop you have to and want to walk for, because there's hardly any foot traffic directly in front of the shop. Coming from Folkingestraat? Turn right immediately as soon as you enter the market. And from Haddingestraat (a nice shortcut if you want to avoid the crowds) turn left. Then we are the fourth building. A tall, narrow, and deep national monument building.

What is your ultimate Lutje Lokaal tip?
I think the ultimate tip is to primarily buy from a small entrepreneur. The personal service, the love for the shop and the customers. That's nice. But you're giving your money to a real person, who offers much more value than just throwing something into your online cart. And if you look at time-saving? With a physical entrepreneur, you can sit down, say what you're looking for, get a few questions asked, and the options are presented to you. All you have to do is say: “Yes, Yes, No No, No way, maybe, oh beautiful, ugh ugly” And from your final selection, you choose what makes you happiest.

Even though some 'Lutjes' also have webshops, be it for inspiration to showcase their offerings, and for distant customers. Still, nothing beats trying on, experiencing, and feeling. You always go home quickly with good advice. Sometimes it takes less time than browsing webshops, trying on, and returning.

Do you have a fun anecdote?
Did I mention we have a shop cat? Nemo, more famous than our shop on social media. He can be followed on “Avonturen van Nemo” (Nemo's Adventures). Nickname: King of the Vismarkt. He acts like it too.

On day 1 that we became owners of LiAtelier, he walked in. He caught a mouse, did his job well, and was incredibly sweet. He was allowed to keep coming. Later, when his owner moved, we adopted him.

He then officially appointed himself owner of LiAtelier. Now Lutje Lokaal has been founded, and the curious red and white cat attends almost every meeting. He therefore also claims that if Lutje Lokaal becomes successful, he will have contributed significantly to it.
