Who is Wijsneus?
Wijsneus, a household name among the 'stadjers' (city dwellers) since 2007, is a family concept store in the heart of Groningen. From clothing to toys, books, accessories, and jewelry. We always promise originality, quality, and service. We love to inspire you with progressive makers, unique items, sustainable brands, and timeless designs. We prefer to do this live, in our shop in the Boteringestraat in Groningen. But of course, also 24/7 online, for the rest of the Netherlands.

This beautiful place was built with a lot of love and attention by Sannie, back then at the Vismarkt, and since August 1, 2021, it's up to me to continue this with the same ingredients. What an honor! This shop has always been the ultimate example for me of how retail should be. The concept, the atmosphere, the people. Every morning I cycle to 'de Boteringe' with a big grin from ear to ear; it feels like coming home.

At Wijsneus, we do everything with full dedication, always with a good portion of love and attention – we are Wijsneus. For example, you'll regularly find our Elien crafting at home for the most beautiful window displays; even her furniture occasionally magically finds its way into the shop.  The artistic influences come from Lotte. Her eye for image and word yields unique discoveries. Beautiful materials, the perfect cut, original designs; that's what makes us all happy at Wijsneus.

Together with me, three other very important players embarked on the Wijsneus adventure. My husband Niels and our children Oliver (4) and Kate (1). Wijsneuzen pure and simple. You will undoubtedly meet them regularly in the shop where Oliver loves to demonstrate his packing skills. Kate prefers to eat a currant bun on the bench in front of the shop, her favorite spot. I often joke about Niels having to show up for household chores, but honestly: without him, this dream would not have become a reality.
