Happy Walker

Happy Walker is a true family business. It is owned by the Prenger family, with the third generation now active. In 1977, Schoenenhuis Prenger settled at its current location. Grandpa Prenger had once started a village shop in Siddeburen. His son took over the shop and wanted to sell more sporty and modern shoes. He also started selling 'nature shoes'; the trend in comfortable walking shoes. It was at that very moment that Roots became a craze. Prenger Sr. sold the Dutch variant of these Canadian shoes under the name Spurs.

Meanwhile, the third generation of Prengers runs the business. Chris Prenger attended the Academy of Physical Education and eventually ended up at Nike. As European Product Manager, he was partly responsible for developing Nike's football boots. For eight years, he led a hectic life; he flew all over Europe and was often in America.
