BESS

BESS has been active since April 1999 as a clothing store for exclusive women's fashion in the Poelestraat in Groningen and is run by owner Ellen Piebes.

Ellen has been active for many years as an entrepreneur and designer of women's clothing. She once started the Flair-lines store in Groningen with her sister Carla, after which she moved to Amsterdam where she began developing her own clothing brand BESS. This brand was successfully sold in various stores in the Netherlands until she felt the urge again and Ellen wanted to see people wearing her creations.

The direct customer contact always pleased her so much that the search for a premises in Groningen began. It was important that the studio and shop could be combined, and that combination was found at Poelestraat 37 in Groningen. To this day, this is still the place where Ellen can express her love for fabrics, designs, and fit, and where every woman who wants something a little different from the mainstream can succeed.
